Follow the steps below to assign a static IP address for a stable and prioritised connection for your Primare Prisma.
Step 1: Assign a Static IP Address to Your Primare Prisma
A static IP ensures that the Prisma always gets the same address on your network, avoiding conflicts or interruptions.
Access Your Router’s Admin Interface
1. Connect to Your Router:
• Use a device connected to your home network (via Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
• Open a browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, etc.).
• Enter your router’s IP address into the address bar. Common IPs are:
• 192.168.1.1
• 192.168.0.1
• 10.0.0.1
• Check your router manual or the label on the back of your router if unsure.
2. Log In:
• Enter your username and password.
• Default credentials are often admin / password. Change them if they’re still default.
Find and Reserve an IP for Prisma
1. Locate Connected Devices:
• Navigate to a section like:
• DHCP Clients
• Device List
• Connected Devices
• Find your Primare Prisma device in the list.
• Look for its device name (e.g., Prisma) or MAC address (usually printed on your Prisma or visible in the Prisma app).
2. Reserve an IP Address:
• Click on the Prisma device or its settings in the list.
• Select “Reserve IP” or “Set Static IP.”
• Assign an unused IP within your network’s range. Example:
• If your router’s IP is 192.168.1.1, assign Prisma 192.168.1.100.
• Save your changes.
3. Reboot Prisma and Router:
• Restart the router and Prisma to ensure the new static IP is applied.
Step 3: Test and Confirm
1. Check the Static IP:
• Open the Prisma app or web interface and verify that it is using the static IP you assigned.
2. Monitor Streaming Performance:
• Play a track and observe whether dropouts or instability persist.
• Use a speed test tool like fast.com to ensure your connection is strong during streaming.
